Sea Dragon Swim Team:  Competitive swim team for ages 6   
through high   school.  Youth must be a YMCA member to
participate. Season runs September - March.  $180 season
 fee per swimmer; $150 for 2nd swimmer in family; additional swimmers $120;  High School Swim Team members - $90.
        
NEW! SEA DRAGON SHORT SEASON (fall only) - For swimmers who are looking for less than a full year of competitive swimming.  The Fall Season ends at Thanksgiving.   1st swimmer - $40, Additional swimmers in same family - $30.

Mommy/Daddy & Me:  Infant/parent water acclimation course.  Call the Front Desk for available classes.  $25 / $50

OPEN HOUSE
for all swim lessons will be held on Thursday PRIOR to the start of the new session.  All families are strongly encouraged to attend so that swimmers can be placed in the correct swim class.

Y Progressive Swim Lessons: Swim lessons are available for youth from pre-school and up. Lessons meet twice a week over a six-week period. Children are expected to progress at their own rate.   $25/$50   Next session begins Sept. 22, 2008 - pre-registration required.

Aquacize: A fun class that improves flexibility and range of motion.
M-W,F, 8:45 - 9:45 a.m.; $25/$50 

Afternoon Aquacize:  Same format as morning class.  Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 3:30-4:30 p.m.   $25/ $50

 


    All fitness classes are free to Y members unless otherwise stated.

    NEW FREE FITNESS PROGRAMS -

    Beginner Fit:  Beginner level fitness class that helps beginners reach wellness and fitness goals.  Tuesday and Thursday  10:00 am - 10:45 am             Free/$15

    Stretching and Toning:  Introduces the basics of stretching and basic exercise.  In addition to the regular fitness goals, class also features stress reduction.

    Strength: T, Th - 9:00-10:45 A.M.   Build strength, muscle tone, and flexibility w/ Meg Manns. Free/$40

    In-Between Fitness: M, W, F - 10:00-11:00 A.M.    Low intensity, low impact dance type class. A great class for the beginner, taught by Beth Hull.     Free/$40

    P.A.L. (Physical Activity at Lunch):  M, W, F - 11:30 A.M.-12:15 P.M.    Take your lunch break at the Y with a co-ed game of pick-up basketball.  

    Below The Belt:  T, Th - 5:00-5:25 P.M. - Quick & effective workout for hips, thighs, and abs.  Free/$15

    Top It Off:  T, Th - 5:30-5:55 P.M. - Work your upper body with this high-powered strength class.   Free/$15

    Step It Up: M, W - 6:00-6:45 P.M.  This class is for all fitness levels. A variety of workouts with weights/strength highlighted.  Free/$40

    Kickboxing: T, Th - 7:00-7:45 P.M.  This class incorporates boxing type moves that work the upper and lower parts of the body.    Free/$40

    NEW!      ABS CLASS: 
    Workout focused entirely on abdominal muscles!  Strengthening  muscle and toning existing muscles are the main focus of this exciting "new" class.

    NEW!     LOW IMPACT AEROBICS: 
    Great for beginners or anyone wanting less "bounce" in their workout.  Includes warm-up, aerobics (walking & low-impact activities - non-choreographed) and cool-down.

    NEW!     MAT PILATES PLUS:  This "new" class includes floor movement sequences in kneeling, prone, seated and supine positions.  Strengthens the core, improves balance, increases coordination and decreases stress.

    Tuesday Pedal I.T.
    -   Intermediate to advanced class - NOT for beginners.  The instructor leads participants through an interval training workout. Tuesdays, 6:00-6:45 P.M.

    Lunchtime Ride Express -
    Monday, 11:45 A.M. -12:15 P.M.; Also, Wednesday and Friday classes offered at the same time.   One day, six weeks - $9 / $12;  All three days - $22 / $ 30

    Hatha Yoga:  M, W - 7:00-7:45 P.M.   Improve your flexibility and strength, improve posture, breathing, reduce stress; Joanne Longbrake is the instructor.   Punchcards available: 10 classes - $15 members/ $ 40 non-members;  20 classes - $25 / $50 . 

    Power Yoga
    :  Mondays only - 5:00-5:45 P.M. in the Community Room;  Power Yoga adds a strengthening "kick" to the traditional form.  Punchcards available - see Hatha Yoga for prices.

    Tae Kwon Do/Self defense: T, Th - 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Korean martial art form offered by the month, year-round.  Tim Conkle is our fourth-degree black belt lead instructor. 
    $30 Month/ $40 Month

    Adult Volleyball:  Wednesdays - "Spike-Lite" format from 7:00-8:00 p.m.;  Full spike play from 8:00-9:00 p.m.  Open to any adult and older teens.  Once-a-year registration required - $10 members/ $15 non-member.

    Adult Racquetball League: Held January - February, for high school age through adult. Entry fee - $12 members/ $25 non-membersLeague is for intermediate to advanced skill players.

    Racquetball Private Lessons:
      Learn the basics of this fast-paced sport with Frank Marsico.  Both adult and youth lessons are available. $ 5 per half-hour, members;  $15 per half-hour, non-members.

    Massage: Swedish Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Carpet Tunnel massage offered by appointment only.  30-minute- $25 member /$30 potential member, plus tax;  1-Hour - $35/$40 plus tax

                                                SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAMS

Day Camps - Pre-register the week prior to the camp week you want to attend, please!
        *  Camp Ne-Kah-Noh (ages 3-5)- weekly in summer; Monday through Friday; 9:00 a.m. - 1:00. - camp games, songs, crafts, swimming and special activities each week - kids should bring a sack lunch, tennis shoes, swimsuit, and towel. 

        *  Camp Lalawethika (grades K-5) - weekly in summer; Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. - traditional camp activities: games, crafts, songs, chants, along with swimming, board games, sports and special activities.  Kids should bring sack lunch, tennis shoes, swimsuit, towel.  Fun Fridays are INCLUDED for FREE to every Camp Lalawethika camper, lunch is provided by the Y on Fun Friday.  Cost is $65 per week for Y-members/ $75 potential members; second camper in the family is $5 less.

        *   NEW Day Camp in Mt. Victory! Camp Wasabogoa (Shawnee for "Stand Firm")  -
This camp will be similar to Camp Lalawethika.  Cost is $10 LESS than YMCA-located camp.

         *   Fun Fridays (grades K-5) - A supervised day of fun at the YMCA!  Swimming, gym games, and lunch provided!  Fun Friday is free to anyone enrolled in the week's day camp.  9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.     $10/ $15                     PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Summer Overnights at the YMCA
:  Grades K-5.   Pre-registration required!  Call for details!
              Lots of fun - games, sports, swimming, board games, crafts, and snacks!
 

    Youth Fitness Orientation:  This six-week class teaches youth, ages 12-15, the proper use of all exercise equipment in our weights room, as well as guidelines for creating an exercise routine.  Upon successful completion of the class, youth are entitled to work out in the weights & equipment room unaccompanied by an adult.
    Classes are offered by popular request.  Cost is $30 members/ $60 non-members.

    School's Out Camp: On days when the Kenton Schools are not in session due to holidays or administrative days, sign your child up for a fun, structured day at the YMCA.
    Kids can come  for the morning, afternoon, or both sessions.  Both morning and afternoon groups will need swim suit and towel.
    Cost is $5 half-day for YMCA members/ $10 half-day for potential members. You can register for either half-day or for a whole day.
    Morning camp, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (lunch at 11:45 a.m.)
    Afternoon Camp, 1:00-6:00 p.m.

    Junior High Night at the YMCA (Middle School, too!): Designated Saturday evenings; Exclusive use of the gym, pool, racquetball court, for middle school- and junior high school age students ONLY!  $1 members / $3 non-members.

    Healthy Kids Day: Every April the YMCA celebrates National Healthy Kid's Day. Activities include information booths, games, prizes, snacks & more. 

    6-7-8 Grade Teen Dance & Costume Party: Open to any 6,7,or 8th grader in Kenton and Hardin County; traditionally held on a Saturday evening in October; music, dancing, door prizes, costume contest, refreshments;  adult chaperones; ideas and suggestions welcome - send comments to Julie Crowe at the YMCA.  ***  2008 date:  October 25

    Y Kids Parties: Held Halloween & Christmas. Activities include songs, games, crafts & stories.

       

 


    Sports programs are seasonal;  Pre-registration required; participation fees vary.

    Spring & Fall Travel Soccer: Four age groups are available U-8,U-10, U-12, and U-15.  Players play in the Black Swamp League and travel to area communities. Register in June for Fall; register in January for Spring.    BIRTH CERTIFICATES REQUIRED!!!

    Outdoor U6 In-House League:  Non-travel soccer for ages 4,5. Optional games against other county teams. BIRTH CERTIFICATES REQUIRED!!!!

    I Love Soccer!  - Indoor Soccer Clinic: Held on Saturdays for six weeks, starting in January. Teaches age-appropriate soccer skills - dribbling, passing, shooting basics; older players work on game situations.  Great refresher course to ready players for spring soccer!
    Age Brackets :
    Age 13 and up; Age 9-12; Age 6-8 ; Ages 3-5

    Beginning Racquetball: Grades 4-8. Specified times.  Learn the rules of the game, how to serve, volley, play offense and defense.  Basic skills are stressed.  Limit of five kids in a class. 
             Wednesdays, 6-6:50 p.m. starting January 9.   Pre-register at Front Desk.
            
    I Love Basketball!:  Fall program teaches age-appropriate skills - dribbling, passing, shooting, game situations. Six weeks. Ages 3-13 and up. 
    Next program date: November 2, 2008.  Saturday mornings.  Call for times and costs.

    T Ball
    : for ages 4-8.  Introduces youth to the basics of the game along with building teamwork and self-esteem. Held on Sunday afternoons in June at Home Run Memorial Park. 
            Low T-Ball - introduction to the basics. All players bat and play in the field each inning.  Outs and runs are not recorded.  Games last 3 innings, or 1 hour, whichever comes first.
            High T-Ball is for players ready to transition to pitched ball.  10 players play in the field (4 outfielders) and outs are recorded , but not runs.  Later in the season, some games may feature "coaches' pitch". Games last 4 innings or 1 hour, 15 minutes, whichever comes first.

                                                       

    Tae Kwon Do: The Korean form of martial art that teaches self defense and develops motor skills for ages six and up. Held year-round.

    Other Youth Programs:

    School's Out Days  (K-5)- held on scheduled Kenton City School no-school days.


    Home School Fitness:  Tuesdays, 1:00-2:00 p.m.;  pre-registration required for 7-week sessions, September through May.  $ 2 per child, per week.

 


 

    A full range of classes is available from the beginner to the advanced student. Classes are specifically designed to stimulate intellectual growth as well as physical development. Classes are offered for ages 3 years and up. The following are a list of gymnastic classes offered. For more information inquire at the front desk.   Classes are currently offered on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m.  Program runs for 6 weeks. Cost is discounted for Y members.
