Sea Dragon Swim Team: (Full season) Competitive swim team for ages 6 through high school.  Youth must be a YMCA member to
participate. Season runs September - March.  $180 season
 fee per swimmer; $150 for 2nd swimmer in family; additional swimmers $120;  High School Swim Team members - $90.
        
SEA DRAGON SHORT SEASON (fall only) - For swimmers who are looking for less than a full year of competitive swimming.  The Fall Season ends at Thanksgiving.   1st swimmer - $40, Additional swimmers in same family - $30.

*** Classes require a minimum number of participants.  Please contact the YMCA for availability of classes.

Parent & Child:  Infant/parent water acclimation course. Ages 6mo.- 36 mo.  Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00-6:00 p.m.  $25 / $50

Pre-School Swim Lessons (Pike, Eel, Ray/Starfish):  For children 3 - 5 years old.  This is an introduction to swimming.  Early lesson will focus on floating and developing swimming skills including strong kicks.  $25/$50

Y Progressive Swim Lessons (Polliwog, Guppy, and Minnow)
: Swim lessons are available for youth from pre-school and up. Lessons meet twice a week over a six-week period. Children are expected to progress at their own rate.  $25 / $50

Advanced Swim Lessons (Fish, Flying Fish, Shark, Porpoise) -
This is for swimmers who have passed Minnow or the equivalent.  The lessons are designed to teach advanced swimming techniques, including breast and butterfly strokes, competitive turns, and competition dives/ starts.    $25 / $50

Aquacize
:
Adults - A fun class that improves flexibility and range of motion. For all ages and abilities - no swimming required!
M, W, F, 8:45 - 9:45 a.m.; $30/$55

Water Fitness: (currently not offered) swimmers and non-swimmers - water aerobics that incorporates stretching, endurance, and strength. You work at your own rate and in your choice of water depth.  
 


    All fitness classes are free to Y members unless otherwise stated.

    In-Between Fitness: M, W, F - 10:00-11:00 A.M.    Low intensity, low impact dance type class. A great class for the beginner, taught by Beth Hull.     Free/$45      

    Body Works:   T, Th - 5:00-5:45 P.M. - Strengthen, condition, and tone all the major muscle groups in this non-aerobic workout.   Instructor:  Carol McKinley  Free/ $40                      

    Step It Up: M, W - 6:00-6:45 P.M.  This class is for all fitness levels. A variety of workouts with weights/strength highlighted.  Instructor:  Kelly Thacker      Free/$40                          

    Boot Camp
    : T, Th - 7:00-7:45 P.M.  This class incorporates boxing type moves that work the upper and lower parts of the body.  Instructor: Beth Frey       Free/$40

    -  This is the latest dance workout craze sweeping the country! Great workout for the abs and hips! No previous dance experience is necessary.  Instructor:  Tiffany Mustain

    MAT PILATES PLUS:  This class includes floor movement sequences in kneeling, prone, seated and supine positions.  Strengthens the core, improves balance, increases coordination and decreases stress.

    Adult Volleyball:  Wednesdays - 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., and Fridays - 6:00-8:00 p.m.   Open to any adult and older teens.   Free to Y members/ $15 year non-member.   

    Adult Racquetball League: League is for intermediate to advanced skill players. Offered in January if enough interest.

    Racquetball Private Lessons:
      Learn the basics of this fast-paced sport with Frank Marsico.  Both adult and youth lessons are available. $ 5 per half-hour, members;  $15 per half-hour, non-members.

    Massage: Swedish Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Carpet Tunnel massage offered by appointment only.  30-minute- $25 member /$30 potential member, plus tax;  1-Hour - $35/$40 plus tax

      I Love Soccer!  - Indoor Soccer Clinic: Held on Saturdays, starting  January 9 (no class on January 23). FIVE week session (info updated 1/13/10). Teaches age-appropriate soccer skills - dribbling, passing, shooting basics; older players work on game situations.  Ages 3 - 12.

      Fall Outdoor Soccer: (U8-U15) -  Registration held in June on first-come, first-served basis- YMCA members register first week, all others register second week.  Season runs mid-August through September.

      Outdoor U6 In-House League - Fall and Spring: (Birthdates between August 1, 2003 to July 31, 2005). Informal beginner soccer for ages 4 and 5. May have some games against Hardin Northern teams.

      The soccer year traditionally runs from August 1 to July 31.

      BIRTH CERTIFICATES REQUIRED for ALL players!!!!

      Four age groups are available for travel soccer , Fall 2009- Spring 2010:
                        U-8 (birthdates between August 1, 2001 to July 31, 2003)
                        U-10  (birthdates between August 1, 1999 to July 31,2001)
                        U-12 (birthdates between August 1, 1997 to July 31, 1999)
                        U-15 (birthdates between August 1, 1994 to July 31, 1997)

      Children may not play up more than two years from their true age; this is a state policy.

                 Teams currently play in the Black Swamp League and travel to area communities within a 10-50 mile radius.
                Health Department -issued BIRTH CERTIFICATES are required for all new players;  ENTRY FEES ARE DUE upon registration!!!
               Youth who play in the Fall, 2009, season, will remain in the same age bracket for Spring, 2010.  New teams are formed each season.

      Teams may choose to play in area tournaments at their option.  The YMCA does not endorse tournament play.

      I Love Basketball!:  Six-week, fall program teaches age-appropriate skills - dribbling, passing, shooting, game situations. 
                                Ages 3 - 5:  Saturdays from 12:10-12:40 p.m. 
                                Ages 6 - 8: Saturdays from 11:35 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.
      $10 for Y-members / $20 potential members.

      Beginning Racquetball: Grades 4-8. Specified times.  Learn the rules of the game, how to serve, volley, play offense and defense.  Basic skills are stressed.  Limit of five kids in a class.

      Baseball (two programs for ages 3-8)
      .  Introduces youth to the basics of the game along with building teamwork and self-esteem. Held at Home Run Memorial Park. 

                I LOVE BASEBALL
      - ages 3-5
      - CLINIC FORMAT -No predetermined Teams - introduction to the basics. Baseball skills are practiced, as well as fun baseball drills and games.  Sundays in June - 1:00 p.m. There are no practices prior to this program.

               T-BALL (game format) is for players ready to transition to pitched ball.  10 players play in the field (4 outfielders) and outs are recorded , but not runs.  Later in the season, some games may feature "coaches' pitch". Games last 4 innings or 1 hour, 15 minutes, whichever comes first.   Sundays in June - 1:00 p.m.  Practices in May.

                                                         

      Tae Kwon Do: The Korean form of martial art that teaches self defense and develops motor skills for ages six and up. Held year-round.   $30 per month, Y-members/ $40 potential members.  Contact Tim Conkle, instructor, for more information.

      Other Youth Programs:

      Home School Fitness:  Tuesdays, 1:00-2:00 p.m.;  pre-registration required for 7-week sessions, September through May.  $ 2 per child, per week.

Summer Day Camps - Pre-registration REQUIRED the week prior to the camp week you want to attend, please!   There is a participation fee for each of the camps and for Fun Fridays.


        *  Camp Ne-Kah-Noh (ages 3-5)- Camp Ne-Kah-Noh is offered weekly in summer; Monday through Friday; 9:00 a.m. - 12:00. - camp games, songs, crafts, swimming and special activities each week - kids should bring a sack lunch, tennis shoes, swimsuit, and towel. 

        *  Camp Lalawethika (grades K-5) - weekly in summer; Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. - traditional camp activities: games, crafts, songs, chants, along with swimming, board games, sports and special activities.  Kids should bring sack lunch, tennis shoes, swimsuit, towel.  Fun Fridays are INCLUDED for FREE to every Camp Lalawethika camper, lunch is provided by the Y on Fun Friday.

(grades K-5) - A supervised day of fun at the YMCA!  Swimming, gym games, and lunch provided!  Fun Friday is free to anyone enrolled in the week's day camp.  9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

    Something NEW this year:  please bring a canned good to donate to the local Helping Hands food pantry.
             The 6-7-8 Dance Party is co-sponsored by the Kenton Elks Lodge in conjunction with the Elks National Foundation's Drug Awareness Program.
             Open to any 6,7,or 8th grader in Kenton and Hardin County school districts; traditionally held on a Saturday evening in the fall; music, dancing, door prizes, costume contest, refreshments. 
             Help Needed: set-up, adult chaperones, clean-up; ideas and suggestions welcome!

    Youth Fitness Orientation:  This six-week class teaches youth, ages 12-15, the proper use of all exercise equipment in our weights room, as well as guidelines for creating an exercise routine.  Upon successful completion of the class, youth are entitled to work out in the weights & equipment room unaccompanied by an adult.  Instructor:  Lauren McKinley
    Classes are offered by popular request - prefer to have at least 3 in the course.  Cost is $30 members/ $60 non-members.

    School's Out Days: (K-5) On days when the Kenton Schools are not in session due to holidays or administrative days, sign your child up for a supervised day of structured FUN at the YMCA!
               The next school-year's scheduled dates are: January 18; and February 15.
               Kids can come  for the morning, afternoon, or both sessions.  Both morning and afternoon groups will need swim suit and towel.
               Cost is $5 half-day for YMCA members/ $10 half-day for potential members. You can register for either half-day or for a whole day.
    Morning camp, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (lunch at 11:45 a.m. - bring a sack lunch)
    Afternoon Camp, 1:00-6:00 p.m.
               Please sign your child up by the day before preferred days.
    NOTE: There must be at least five children registered for either session for the program to be offered.


    Junior High Night at the YMCA (Middle School, too!)
    : Designated Saturday evenings; Dates to be determined.  Exclusive use of the gym, pool, racquetball court, for middle school- and junior high school age students ONLY!  $1 members / $3 non-members.

    Healthy Kids Day: Each year, YMCAs across America and the world celebrate National Healthy Kid's Day. Activities include information booths, games, prizes, snacks & more. 

    Y Kids Parties: Held Halloween & Christmas. Activities include songs, games, crafts & stories.
